# HTTP

Call web services or offer your own HTTP endpoints.

Use the HTTP nodes to call web services, or to offer your own endpoints that other systems can call. You'll find them under **http** in the palette.

## Calling a web service

The **http request** node sends a request to any URL and outputs the response. Use it, for example, to push results to an MES or a cloud service.

## Offering your own endpoint

The **http in** node listens for requests, and the **http response** node sends the reply. Endpoints are served on port 1880, always under **`/api`**: a path you enter as `/my-endpoint` is reached at:

```
http://[serial-number].local:1880/api/my-endpoint
```

Captic's own endpoints, such as the robot pose service and the pipeline run listener, work the same way. See [Integration Flow](/docs/overview/hands-on/integrating-your-robot/integration-flow.md).

To call the vision system directly from your own software, use the [Product API](/docs/overview/hands-on/integrating-your-robot/rest.md) instead.
{% endhint %}
